Impact of Different Models of Outpatient TB Treatment on Treatment Outcomes in the city of Kyiv
USAID STbCU presents to your attention the results of an operational research on the Impact of Different Models of Outpatient TB Treatment on Treatment Outcomes in the city of Kyiv. the research was implemented by a team of MPH student researchers from the School of Public Health of the National University of ‘Kyiv-Mohyla Academy’ within the USAID STbCU-supported grant.
The operational research identified the role of directly observed treatment (DOT) in treatment outcomes, determined the effectiveness of each model of outpatient TB treatment, and major gaps in the treatment process. This operational research combined a desk study (a systematic review of previous studies and international practices), with a quantitative study (a retrospective analysis of cohort of 2 031 cases from the TB-registry from 2013 and 1 258 patient’s records of drug-sensitive TB from 2014), and a qualitative study (32 interviews with healthcare workers (HCW) involved into outpatient TB treatment).
